Lyrics

[Verse]
Walking down the gravel path
Where the past meets the sky
A wooden frame stands tall
Watching every cloud go by
It's a piece of the story
From a land far away
Frozen in the sunlight
On a quiet summer day
[Chorus]
High in the tower
Looking out for the team
High in the tower
A soldier's heavy dream
Combat Outpost
Strong and small
Inside the wire
Protecting us all
[Verse]
Sandbags piled at the base
Tough enough to stand the strain
Keeping watch through the dust
Keeping watch through the rain
A forward base on the line
Built to hold the ground
In the heart of the trail
Now the only sound
[Chorus]
High in the tower
Looking out for the team
High in the tower
A soldier's heavy dream
Combat Outpost
Strong and small
Inside the wire
Protecting us all
[Bridge]
It’s a long way from the valley
To the Heritage track
But the lessons they learned there
Are never coming back
Just a small piece of wood
And a view from the top
Keeping the memory
At the mountain COP
[Chorus]
High in the tower
Looking out for the team
High in the tower
A soldier's heavy dream
Combat Outpost
Strong and small
Inside the wire
Protecting us all
